Man fined after causing criminal damage at St Andrews hospital

Jay Perkins aged 19 of 12 althorp road has been fined £95 after causing criminal damage to st Andrews hospital. The incident itself took place on the 10th of May 2018 after police were alerted to an alarm at St Andrews Hospital and found that the main reception door had been smashed in and two alarm panels had been broken. Mr Perkins pleaded guilty to the charges.

The defence lawyer Nadia Salini said that Mr Perkins was an “unwell young man” and “is receiving treatment for physocosis and said that he had “taken a break from university and was struggling to get out and about” Mr Perkins has three previous convictions for battery and burglary and those cases were heard in Birmingham magistrates court. The judge said that because of Mr perkins financial situation he does not have to pay court costs but must pay £45 in compensation to the hospitial. Mr Perkins is on benefits and is paid £100 per fortnight and will pay £5 per week for the next two months.
